Long time,No Post-distractions now and then

It has been ages since I last posted on this blog.Since I last blogged a lot of water has flown under the bridge,or my shirt size has changed through XL-L-M-L-XL rather :).I graduated finally after defending my project on the last day to do in the summer of 2010(Aug 5th I guess) since trying wrap it up for about a year before that.I managed to get a job at LSU-HPC soon after that and began working in November 2010.After a few months of being in the job,I find myself exactly where I was a year ago-although I must admit some things are different like I have graduated and have a job at least for a few months to come(hopefully!) while I search for a new one and this is what I mean I am now exactly where I was a year ago.

And coming to the point of job-search,it is not easy now-a-days.Don't get me wrong-by 'not easy' I mean not due to the lack of jobs but due to the sheer number of distractions or 'other things' to do these days.Back in good 'ol days during my engineering there were just movies, cricket and towards the latter part Orkut.I wasn't quite the party animal back then which I am now-heck,I was supposed to be back home in a few hours when I went out and the latest I could be back home was around 10:00 PM.Now,the sheer amount of distractions online and the activity on each of the online forums is mind boggling. And the worst part is that they are very addictive.Take for example, twitter.I kind of follow my 'timeline' all the time and go back and see all the missed tweets in I happened to be off twitter for a few hours.I don't ever remember doing the same for a missed or difficult to understand academic lecture. This itself knocks off atleast an hour of time each day.And then there is facebook, which is on par with twitter with regard to my timewasting,if not worse. It's not just the posts on these mediums which are time consuming, but a lot of links are posted on them which multiply the effect-on any given day,on twitter,I read a minimum of five to seven 'interesting' articles about a varied range of topics.Add to this,a number of news and gossip sites which have frequent posts. All these are not 'replacements' for the distractions which existed previously but just added to them wit a higher priority.

The bottomline is I have to buckle up,let go of the distractions and search for a job.
Wish me luck!
